There comes a time and a tide
in the affairs of a Nation
that will undeniably change things.

That has surely been the case in Nepal during 2006.
.

This website was set up in February 2006. Then affairs in Nepal were particularly grave. Then too The British Foreign & Commonwearth Office Travel Advice (www.fco.gov.uk) was in our view, 'scaremongering' to an almost farcical degree. This website here was set up as a counter-point voice.

Events, news and circumstances here in Nepal are now much improved and optimisim now has a basis. In this improved and hopefully improving climate and, at least in general terms, us at Himalayan Encounters 'singing from the same song sheet' as the FCO, there is much reduced purpose for this website.

We will however maintain it for several reasons:
a) Its presence might be missed and queried; especially as it can still be used as a 'talking-shop' for views.

b) Note and comment on further developments in Nepal (for worse or better) can be found here.

c)Both the contributions and the editorial can be lively and we'd rather Nepal did not lose one of its few
independent voices.

Jai Nepal.
