Nature Movie

Ask Eric Valli why he chose to make a film on the Himalayan subject and region - Oscar nominated film the CARAVAN fame. The remoteness of Nepal, Snowy peaks, Ancient and isolated villages, Buddhist monasteries, Spectacular Lakes, and Enthralling Hindu & Tibetan culture and tradition give ample reasons for making movies in Nepal. Many award winning films have been made by the National Geography Channel and others on the Everest and the Himalayas.

Although some westerners and Bollywood film makers have made a few of their films in the Nepalese background, the breathtaking panorama of nature still lies untapped by commercial film makers.

Some of the technicalities you might consider while making a nature movie in Nepal:

Pre-production: purpose of the film, know your audience, media selection, subject selection, research, scientific advisors, style and end format selection, location reconnaissance and schedule planning.

Production:
Imaging, choice of cameras, television formats, choice of lenses, lens shading, camera support, camera skills and field craft.

Filming techniques: Camera skills, Sound the unseen element

Safety: For both the humans and wildlife in the area

Permission & Royalty: Incase of foreign production, a royalty of US $2000 in case of feature film and US $1000 in case of other films like Documentary, Advertisement, Newsreel TV etc. is to be paid for obtaining permission. If the production is a collaboration between Nepalese and foreign filming teams, then a royalty of US $1000 in case of feature film and US $500 in case of other films like Documentary, Advertisement, Newsreel TV etc. is to be paid for obtaining permission.
